Cancellation

We regret to announce that due to the corona virus crisis, the DORIS Day session associated with the EGU meeting in Vienna in May 2020 is now cancelled.
On March 19, the EGU informed potential attendees on its website about the cancellation of the General Assembly 2020. Under these conditions and as we said in our email on March 9, 2020, we cannot hold this DORIS workshop for interested users.
We thank the Technical University of Vienna for kindly offering to be the host of this meeting.
We will keep you informed when in the future we will be able to organize such a community user workshop.
We hope that everyone including your family and colleagues stay safe and healthy during this difficult time.

Information on the coronavirus

Since the DORIS day is organized on the premises of the T.U. Wien, the participants in the DORIS day event are subject to the measures recommended by the University in relation to the coronavirus.
In addition, since the DORIS Day is being held in conjunction with the EGU General Assembly, to take advantage of the large number of participants at this event, the holding of the DORIS day 2020 workshop also depends on the status of the EGU2020 meeting in Vienna.

On March 09, 2020, information from the EGU Programme Committee Chair on EGU website (https://www.egu2020.eu/) says that in light of the developing coronavirus outbreak, the Union will make a final careful decision regarding the status of the General Assembly 2020 by 31 March.

Therefore following the lead of the EGU, the IDS  suspends the registration for the DORIS Day 2020 for the time being and recommends that participants postpone making any further travel and accommodation bookings unless reimbursement is guaranteed. We will provide an update after the 31st of March.

Information on the coronavirus can be found on the web sites of TU Wien and EGU. Please check these information pages periodically for up-to-date advice.

Objective and program

The IDS is organizing a “DORIS Day” on Saturday 2 May 2020 at the Technical University of Vienna, Austria, prior to the EGU 2020.

This IDS event aims at introducing the DORIS technique and at fostering the use of the IDS routine products (coordinate time series, DORIS RINEX data, ephemerides of DORIS satellites…) to people who are not familiar with this satellite positioning technique.

The “DORIS day” is divided into two parts: a short introduction on the DORIS technique (history, space and ground segments, how to use the DORIS data, DORIS and the IDS) and half a day on the use of the IDS products for tectonics, sea level and land motion monitoring, space weather…

What does the DORIS Day provide?

The “DORIS Day” is a one-day introductory course to give non-practitioners in DORIS the opportunity to broaden their knowledge on the DORIS technique as well as on the use of the IDS routine products.

Who is the DORIS Day for?

The “DORIS Day” is devoted to attendees neither familiar nor currently working with DORIS. The seminars will be given at the level of a non-expert. Furthermore, talks will be given in a tutorial format, with time for questions and discussion.

When the “DORIS Day” is scheduled?

The course is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, 2020, prior to the EGU 2020.

Where the DORIS Day will take place?

The course will take place at the Technical University of Vienna (Austria).

Address: Wiedner Hauptstrasse 8-10, 1040 Vienna (near Karlsplatz)

Room: DB02 (Yellow area, 2nd floor)
