Hervé Fagard is about to swith the IDS site logs from ITRF2000 to ITRF2005.

Before doing this, he insists that we remind you about the four character Ids used for the Kourou station.

As stated in the DPOD2005 (http://www.ipgp.jussieu.fr/~willis/DPOD2005.htm), KRUB and KRVB have the same DOMES number, installation date (03.08.92), position and velocity. So KRUB = KRVB.

The explanation is simple: as Kourou is a master beacon, and as long as we only had two master beacons in the network (Toulouse and Kourou), we had a back-up beacon in Kourou, so that we could switch quickly in case of nominal beacon failure. Both beacons would use the same antenna. As a matter of fact, we never had to switch to the back-up and only the nominal KRVB beacon was used.
When replacing the 1.0 with a 3.0 beacon in November 2004, we decided to also remove the back-up beacon (a third master beacon was to be installed in Hartebeesthoek in 2005).
