****************************************************************************** dorismail 11-Jul-2018 07:57:55 Message No 1122 ****************************************************************************** Author: Soudarin Laurent Subject: International DORIS Service: election announcement Dear colleagues, The terms for two seats within the IDS Governing Board will expire in December 2018: -one seat of at-large member, presently occupied by Marek Ziebart (University College London, UK), -the seat of Analysis Coordinator, occupied by the tandem team Hugues Capdeville (CLS, France) and Jean-Michel Lemoine (CNES, France). A call for nomination will be sent in mid-July to invite IDS Associates to propose candidates for the two open positions for the next four-year term, January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2022. Persons wishing to apply can express their intend to one of the IDS Associates whose names are listed on the IDS website at https://ids-doris.org/ids/organization/associate-members.html (currently being updated) Propositions of the IDS Associates will be collected by the Nominating Committee formed for the elections up to September 16. A short CV (1 page) will be requested. Elections will be held in early November. An overlap period of a few months for the new Analysis Coordinator will be considered. The Governing Board meets at least annually, usually twice in conjunction with meetings of the Analysis Working Group and IDS Workshop. The principal role of the Governing Board is to set policy and to exercise broad oversight of all IDS functions and components. It also controls general activities of the Service, including restructuring, when appropriate, to maintain Service efficiency and reliability. The composition of the Governing Board can be seen at https://ids-doris.org/ids/organization/governing-board.html . Because of the importance of the function of Analysis Coordinator, the IDS has wished to send broadly this announcement and encourages institutions to consider getting involved in this task. Role of the Analysis Coordinator as defined in IDS Terms of Reference (https://ids-doris.org/ids/organization/terms-of-reference.html) * The Analysis Coordinator assists the Analysis Centers and monitors their activities to ensure that the IDS objectives are carried out. * The Analysis Coordinator, working with the Analysis Centers, is expected to provide quality control, performance evaluation, and continued development of appropriate analysis standards. * The Analysis Coordinator, with the support of the Combination Center, is also responsible for the appropriate combination of the Analysis Centers products into a single set of prescribed data products. In the coming term the Analysis Coordinator will work closely with the Analysis Centers to implement any agreed upon standards for the next ITRF reprocessing, ITRF2020. In addition, an important aspect will be working with the ACs to implement the RINEX/DORIS processing, so the data from the newest satellites can contribute to the ITRF. Questions regarding these elections may be directed to the IDS Central Bureau at ids.central.bureau @ ids-doris.org Best regards, Laurent Soudarin On behalf of the IDS Central Bureau
