This new station replaces the Fairbanks(FAIB) DORIS station, which has been down since July 2010 and removed on October, 7th. Cold Bay is a site offering a clear sky view and a better location getting improvement of the network strength (coverage gap reduced on Northern Pacific). Two permanent GNSS receivers are operating in the same premises and part of the CORS network (NGS): BAY5 and BAY6. The DORIS equipment consists of a third generation beacon and a Starec antenna. The antenna is supported by a 2 meter high, 30 cm sided very rigid metal tower, set on a concrete block extending 2 m deep into the ground. Transmissions started on November 22, 2010, in the central frequencies mode. The name of the station is "COLD BAY" and its acronym in the data files is COBB. Its coordinates (ITRF2005, 2010.80), derived from a connection to the surrounding IGS stations processed with the Bernese software, are: X: -3484298.2236 Y: -1084773.3604 Z: 5213542.1899 SigX = 0.001 m SigY = 0.005 m SigZ = 0.012 m Since no GPS-derived velocities are available yet for this site, here are calculated values from ITRF2005 velocities field : VX = -0.0177 m/y VY = 0.0001 m/y VZ = -0.0118 m/y VE = -0.0053 m/y VN = -0.0206 m/y Best regards, Jérôme SAUNIER Réseaux et Services Internationaux Service de Géodésie et Nivellement Institut Géographique National 2, avenue Pasteur 94 165 SAINT MANDE Cedex Cliquez sur l'url suivante https://www.mailcontrol.com/sr/mlfjMMT07GLTndxI!oX7UtECuJx2pP2xKt6PHCNbZL83vQWZFvo3sL9BA4W64vLRiLkWkKkYj8Kl3fOT1a7RlQ== si ce message est indésirable (pourriel).
