Fagard" Subject: Antenna raising at Terre Adelie (Antarctica) Dear Colleagues, The antenna of the DORIS station at Terre Adélie, installed in 2002 and replaced in 2006, has been raised in order to remove the N-type bent adapters at its base and to give additionnal clearance between the antenna base and the snow that can accumulate on the top of the pillar. The new device that was used to support the antenna on top of the concrete pillar is the same 45 cm high stainless steel structure which was recently installed at Monument Peak. The transmissions from the former antenna location (ADEB) stopped on February 6, and resumed on February 8, after the antenna raising. The acronym for the new reference point is ADFB. The DOMES number for the new antenna reference point is 91501S003. The vector from ADEB to ADFB is: dN = 0.000 m dE = -0.001 m dh = 0.404 m. Hence the ITRF2000, 1997.0 coordinates for ADFB, derived from those published for ADEB in the sitelog: X= -1940878.563 m Y= 1628473.142 m Z= -5833723.405 m SigX = 0.002 m SigY = 0.003 m SigZ = 0.004 m The ITRF2000 velocities for this site are : VX = -0.0015 m/y VY = -0.0139 m/y VZ = -0.0024 m/y SigVX = 0.0009 m/y SigVY = 0.0009 m/y SigVZ = 0.0014 m/y Best regards, Herve Fagard -- ====================================================================== Herve FAGARD e-mail : herve.fagard@ign.fr Institut Geographique National 94165 SAINT-MANDE CEDEX PHONE : + 33 1 43 98 81 48 FRANCE FAX : + 33 1 43 98 84 50 ====================================================================== Please do not reply directly to this message, but send comments and suggestions to IDS.central.bureau@cls.fr
