Fagard" Subject: Antenna change at Djibouti Dear Colleagues, Following the discovery of a tilt affecting the antenna at Djibouti (DJIB) (see DORISMail # 0454), an IGN surveyor travelled to Djibouti a few days ago. Once more, this tilt was due to the corrosion of the anodised aluminium base plate. The offset of the 2 GHz phase centre was: dE = 0.021 m dN = 0.105 m (FROM the original position TO the shifted one). There was no vertical displacement. A new base plate (made of AISI 316L stainless steel) and a new antenna were installed. The new antenna position is within 1 mm of the initial DJIB position (as installed in July 2000), therefore the 4-character code of the point was not changed (DJIB). Transmissions resumed on June 28.
