Fagard" Subject: Removal of the DORIS station at Goldstone (California, USA) Dear Colleagues, The Goldstone DORIS station was initially installed in January 1988 (acronym: GOLA), before the launch of SPOT-2. It was moved to a new location (identified as GOMA) in August 1994. In September 1996, the Alcatel antenna was replaced by a Starec one (GOMB). A couple of years ago, for lack of short distance co-location with other space geodesy techniques, we decided to find a new site within a few hundredth of km radius. Monument Peak was selected as the new site at the beginning of 2003, then it took more than two years to bring this project to a successful conclusion. In the meantime, the Goldstone beacon stopped transmitting in September 2004. All DORIS equipment remaining on site has been dismantled on December 2, 2005.
