****************************************************************************** DORISMail 09-Sep-2005 17:00:58 Message No 0401 ****************************************************************************** Author: Tavernier Gilles Subject: CRYOSAT launch schedule Dear colleagues, The CRYOSAT satellite has arrived safely at its launch site in Plesetsk (Russia). The launch is now officially scheduled for October 8, 2005 at 3:05 p.m. UT. It will take a new DORIS receiver aboard, intermediate between the 2GM receiver used on-board Jason-1 and SPOT-5 and the future 2GXX to be used on board Jason-2. It will also carry Laser retro-reflectors. The DORIS receiver should be put on 23 hours after launch. It will undergo acceptance and validation tests for a while. Data delivered by ESA to CNES will will then be processed and delivered to the IDS Data Centers. Cryosat is Europe's first spacescraft dedicated to the study of ice and has a high inclination of 92 degrees.
