Fagard" Subject: Station moving and upgrade at Noumea (New Caledonia, France) Dear Colleagues, The DORIS station at Noumea (New Caledonia, French overseas territories) has been moved to a new location, 9 km away from the former one. This station was initially installed in 1987 (acronym: NOUA), then upgraded with a Starec antenna (NOUB) in December 1997, but has later been down since October 2002. The new site is on top of a hill with very clear sky view, in premises built by the local geodetic service (DITTT). It will be maintained by IRD who also maintains the Futuna (FUTB) DORIS station. A permanent GPS station will be installed at the same site, which should replace the current NOUM IGS station in a few months. The antenna is supported by a 1.5 meter high, 40 cm diameter concrete pillar, extending at least 1 meter deep into the ground. The beacon is a 3rd generation model. The name of the station is still "Noumea" and its acronym in the data files is NOWB. Transmissions started on August 25, 2005, in normal frequencies mode. The DOMES number for the antenna reference point is 92701S003. The following ITRF2000 @ 1997.0 coordinates for the DORIS antenna reference point, were derived from the connection to the NOUM IGS station: X= -5743532.986 m Y= 1380501.974 m Z= -2397907.863 m SigX = 0.01 m SigY = 0.01 m SigZ = 0.01 m The ITRF2000 velocities for this site are : VX = -0.0210 m/y VY = -0.0141 m/y VZ = 0.0415 m/y SigVX = 0.0018 m/y SigVY = 0.0011 m/y SigVZ = 0.0011 m/y Best regards, Herve Fagard -- ====================================================================== Herve FAGARD e-mail : herve.fagard@ign.fr Institut Geographique National 94165 SAINT-MANDE CEDEX PHONE : + 33 1 43 98 81 48 FRANCE FAX : + 33 1 43 98 84 50 ====================================================================== Please do not reply directly to this message, but send comments and suggestions to IDS.central.bureau@cls.fr
