Fagard" Subject: New station on Santa Cruz island (Galapagos, Ecuador) Dear Colleagues, A new DORIS station has been installed in the premises of the Charles Darwin Foundation located at Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz island, Galapagos, Ecuador. The DORIS equipment consists of a third generation beacon and a Starec antenna. The antenna is supported by a 1 meter high, 30 cm sided very rigid metal tower, bolted on the upper terrace of a building, above a 3 m high, 28 cm sided load-bearing concrete pillar. The name of the station is "Santa Cruz" and its acronym in the data files is SCRB. Transmissions started on April 3, 2005. The beacon transmits in shifted frequencies mode , with K=12 i.e.: F1 (400 MHz channel) = 401251664.579 Hz F2 (2 GHz channel) = 2036258447.349 Hz The DOMES number for the antenna reference point is 42005S001. The geodetic connection between the DORIS antenna, the nearby IGS station GLPS, and the main bench mark of the University of Hawai'i Sea Level Center's tide gauge was measured. The following ITRF2000 @ 1998.0 coordinates for the DORIS antenna reference point, were derived from the connection to the GLPS IGS station: X= -33880.035 m Y= -6377521.956 m Z= -82085.589 m SigX = 0.01 m SigY = 0.01 m SigZ = 0.01 m The IGS velocities for this site are : VX = 0.0499 m/y VY = -0.0019 m/y VZ = 0.0071 m/y SigVX = 0.0004 m/y SigVY = 0.0008 m/y SigVZ = 0.0003 m/y These velocities, as well as the coordinates used for GLPS, were extracted from the following cumulative IGS solution: ftp://cddisa.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/gps/products/1316/IGS05P13.ssc.Z.
