****************************************************************************** DORISMail 03-Aug-2004 16:00:11 Message No 0335 ****************************************************************************** Author: "H. Fagard" Subject: Antenna drift at Marion Island Dear Colleagues, We have been informed that, due to some corrosion of its aluminum supporting plate, the DORIS antenna at Marion Island (MARB) is out of vertical by a few centimeters. Therefore positionning and horizontal velocity results should be considered biased over an unknown time period (at least one year). The true azimuth of the phase centers drift direction was measured by the host agency and found equal to 345 degrees (i.e. approximately NNW). The exact excentricity will be measured, and the plate replaced, when a surveyor from the HartRAO (Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomical Observatory) travels to Marion, which is planned for later this month.
