****************************************************************************** DORISMail 24-Dec-2003 07:50:57 Message No 0283 ****************************************************************************** Author: "H. Fagard" Subject: New station at Jiufeng (China) Dear Colleagues, A new DORIS station has been installed at Jiufeng, near Wuhan in the Hubei province of China. It is located within the premises of the Jiufeng SLR station operated by the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The DORIS equipment consists of a third generation beacon and a Starec antenna. The antenna is supported by a 1.5 meter high, 50 cm sided square concrete pillar (tiled with _marble_, making it the most luxurious pillar in our network ;-), anchored 2 m deep in the ground. The name of the station is "Jiufeng" and its acronym in the data files is JIUB. Transmissions started on December 10, 2003. The DOMES number for the antenna reference point is 21602S005. The SLR station, that started its measurements in 2000, is not included in the ITRF2000. Therefore we used a connection to the "WUHN" IGS station located 14 km away to obtain the following ITRF2000 @ 1997.0 coordinates of the new DORIS point "JIUB": X= -2279839.34 m Y= 5004701.61 m Z= 3219776.01 m (sigma: 2 cm) The ITRF2000 velocities of the "WUHN" IGS station are: VX = -0.0325 m/y VY = -0.0077 m/y VZ = -0.0119 m/y Please note that: - in order to avoid jamming with the Purple Mountain station, the transmitted frequencies have been shifted with respect to the nominal DORIS frequencies. - this new station has been programmed on the receivers on board Jason and Envisat, the only models able to handle shifted frequency beacons.
