****************************************************************************** DORISMail 11-Apr-2003 14:57:44 Message No 0236 ****************************************************************************** Author: "H. Fagard" Subject: Antenna change at St Helena Dear Colleagues, The DORIS antenna at St Helena (HELB) was replaced on March 21. It is now supported by a 32 cm sided, very rigid metal tower, set on the same concrete block as the former (guyed) tower. The acronym for the new reference point is HEMB. The DOMES number for the new antenna reference point is 30606S004. The new reference point (HEMB) is 9 mm lower that the former one (HELB), and its horizontal position is within 1 cm of the HELB position as of July 31st, 2002, which should have been rather stable since then (see DORISmail No 0199 for a summary of the enventful antenna history at this site). The coordinates published in the ITRF2000 solution for HELB, derived from data collected during the first three years of this antenna's life - probably before the antenna tilt process started - can be used as initial coordinates for HEMB with a one or two centimeter accuracy.
