****************************************************************************** DORISMail 01-Apr-2003 14:59:23 Message No 0235 ****************************************************************************** Author: "H. Fagard" Subject: Antenna replacement at Ascension Island Dear Colleagues, The antenna of the DORIS station at Ascension Island has been replaced on March 16, 2003. The antenna type is unchanged (Starec) and its replacement was only motivated by damage due to the high corrosion at this site. There were no signs of corrosion on the antenna supporting plate, made of marine aluminum, and no significant tilt of the antenna (the supporting plates whose corrosion has caused antenna tilt at some sites were made of anodized aluminum, not marine aluminum). Since the horizontal offset between the former and current 2 GHz phase centers is only around 3 mm, we have decided to keep the same acronym (ASDB) and DOMES number (30602S004).
