****************************************************************************** DORISMail 26-Mar-2003 16:52:45 Message No 0233 ****************************************************************************** Author: Tavernier Gilles Subject: Error in SPOT 5 DORIS data at the Data Centers Dear Colleagues, CNES found an error in the data that are made available to CDDIS and IGN for the SPOT 5 satellite. Because of a problem in our translation software, the dates in the files are off by 10 seconds from the actual dates. We were surprised that no one had problems processing the erroneous data so we tried ourselves: we cannot see any degradation in the residuals from this change! The orbit is obviously shifted by 70 km along-track, but nothing else is visible. We checked with Pascal Willis (IGN/JPL Analysis Center), and there is also no clear sign of the problem in the positioning solutions ! SPOT 5 arcs 2 to 24 (June 11 2002 until January 3 2003) are affected. We have applied a correction to the data and we have re-submitted arcs 2 to 24 to the Data Centers: they will have a 002 version number (see http://lareg.ensg.ign.fr/IDS/doc/struct_dc.html about naming convention), for instance, sp5data023.001.Z will be replaced by sp5data023.002.Z Arc 25 and following arcs are error-free. We apoligize for the trouble Gilles TAVERNIER _____________________________________________________ CNES DSO/ED/AL/MA - Bpi 2002 Phone : 33 - (0)5 61 27 37 76 18, avenue Edouard Belin Fax : 33 - (0)5 61 28 25 95 31 401 TOULOUSE CEDEX 4 Email : Gilles.Tavernier@cnes.fr _____________________________________________________ Please do not reply directly to this message, but send comments and suggestions to IDS.central.bureau@cls.fr
