(South Atlantic Ocean) ****************************************************************************** DORISMail 18-Mar-2002 10:39:33 Message No 0172 ****************************************************************************** Author: "H. Fagard" Subject: Station renovation at Tristan da Cunha (South Atlantic Ocean) Dear Colleagues, The dean of the DORIS stations (it was installed in June 1986) which is also one of the most remote ones in our network - Tristan da Cunha, in the very middle of the South Atlantic Ocean - has been completely renovated. Transmissions had stopped when the Alcatel antenna was knocked down by a storm on May 23, 2001. A Starec antenna is now installed on a 1.2 m high, 30 cm sided concrete pillar set on a one cubic meter concrete base. The acronym for the new reference point is TRIB. The beacon is now a third generation one (the first one in the network, apart from the master beacons at Toulouse and Kourou). Transmissions from the new station resumed on January 24. The DOMES number for the new antenna reference point is 30604S002. Its coordinates (ITRF2000, 1997.0) are: X = 4978462.09 m Y = -1086617.12 m Z = -3823204.60 m (sigma: 2 cm) The ITRF2000 velocities for this site are: VX = 0.0193 m/y VY = 0.0162 m/y VZ = 0.0165 m/y Best regards, Herve Fagard -- ====================================================================== Herve FAGARD e-mail : herve.fagard@ign.fr Institut Geographique National 94165 SAINT-MANDE CEDEX PHONE : + 33 1 43 98 81 48 FRANCE FAX : + 33 1 43 98 84 50 ====================================================================== [ Part 2: "Attached Text" ] Please do not reply directly to this message, but send comments and suggestions to IDS.central.bureau@cls.fr
