Fagard" Subject: New station at Mahe Island (Seychelles) Dear Colleagues, A new DORIS station has been installed in Mahe, the main island of the Republic of Seychelles. It is located at Pointe Larue, in the premises of the Rawinsonde station of the Meteorological Services. This is located about 300 m from the tide gauge (GLOSS station # 273, "Pointe Larue"), and 5.8 km from the IGS station SEY1. It consists of a version 1.1 beacon and a Starec antenna, installed on top of a 2 m high, 30 cm sided very rigid tower, set on a 1 m sided, 1.3 m deep concrete block, anchored in a large granite boulder. Additional rebars were driven in the sides of the hole in order to improve the concrete monument's stability, as the soil was rather loose. The name of the station is "Mahe" and its acronym in the data files is MAHB. Transmissions started on June 20. The DOMES number for the antenna reference point is 39801S005. Its approximate coordinates (ITRF2000, 1997.0) are: X = 3597814.64 m Y = 5240899.72 m Z = -516791.43 m (sigma: 2 cm) The ITRF2000 velocities for the nearby "SEY1" IGS station are: VX = -0.0206 m/y VX = 0.0248 m/y VX = 0.0118 m/y Best regards, Herve Fagard -- ====================================================================== Herve FAGARD e-mail : herve.fagard@ign.fr Institut Geographique National 94165 SAINT-MANDE CEDEX PHONE : + 33 1 43 98 81 48 FRANCE FAX : + 33 1 43 98 84 50 ======================================================================
