Dear Colleagues,
The old Alcatel antenna at Easter Island, which dated back to 1988 has been replaced with a Starec antenna installed on a new support in order to improve its stability: a very rigid, 45 cm sided, 2 m high triangular metal tower set on a 0.7 m sided, 0.5 m high, 2 m deep reinforced concrete block.

Transmissions from the old antenna (EASA) stopped on February 23, and resumed on February 26 from the new antenna.

The acronym in the data files for the new antenna reference point is EASB.

The DOMES number for the antenna reference point is 41703S009.

Its approximate coordinates (preliminary ITRF2000, 1997.0) are:

X =  -1884981.044 m     Y = -5357604.643 m      Z = -2892863.693 m
(sigma: 1 cm)
The ITRF2000 velocities for this site are:

VX = 0.0638 m/y         VY = -0.0190 m/y                VZ = -0.0068 m/y

Best regards,
Herve Fagard
