****************************************************************************** DORIS Electronic Mail Mon Aug 9 9:39:30 WETDST 1999 Message Number 0080 ****************************************************************************** Author: Herve Fagard (IGN) Subject: Station replacement at Marion Island Dear Colleagues, The DORIS station at Marion Island, which had been damaged by a storm in July 1998, has been fixed. The beacon, UPS, antenna and cables have been replaced. The equipment now consists of a version 1.0 beacon and a Starec antenna, which is installed on the same tower as the former (Alcatel type) antenna. The new station started transmitting on May 31. Its DOMES number is 30313S002. The acronym in the data files for this new station is : MARB. Because we are still waiting for the information about the height of the new DORIS antenna reference point above the former antenna's one, I have computed approximate coordinates using an estimated value of the shift. On the other hand, since the antenna centering was not performed by a surveyor, it is approximate as well. Therefore, the following ITRF 97 coordinates at epoch 1997.0 for the new antenna reference point are only to within 5 cm : X =3D 3448405.78 m Y =3D 2680356.39 m Z =3D -4632640.62 m Best regards, Herve Fagard ======================================================================== Herve FAGARD e-mail : herve.fagard@ign.fr Institut Geographique National 94165 SAINT-MANDE CEDEX PHONE : + 33 1 43 98 81 48 FRANCE FAX : + 33 1 43 98 84 50 ======================================================================== [Mailed From: Pascal Willis ]
