****************************************************************************** DORIS Electronic Mail Fri Nov 20 12:04:17 WET 1998 Message Number 0058 ****************************************************************************** Author: Gilles Tavernier Subject: DORIS/SPOT2 jamming mode Dear Colleagues, DORIS performs measurements at 2 frequencies, around 400 MHz and 2 GHz. Any other system that transmits in these bands will interfere with the si gnal and cause loss of data. In order to monitor the power radiated in these bands, and thus detect potential sources of jamming, the DORIS instrument has the capability to function in a listening only mode (known as "jamming" measurement mode). The DORIS instrument on SPOT2 is going to be turned into the "jamming" measurement mode in November for one SPOT sub-cycle (5 days). The current schedule of this campaign is as follows: - November 20 (00:00 UTC) through November 24, 1998 - return to nominal operation on November 25 at 00:00 UTC. When operating in the "jamming" measurement mode no Doppler measurements can be made. Thus, no DORIS data will be available for SPOT2 during these 5 days.
