****************************************************************************** DORIS Electronic Mail Tue Dec 17 8:39:15 WET 1996 Message Number 0009 ****************************************************************************** Author: Herve Fagard (IGN) Subject: Station replacement at Santiago (Chile) Dear Colleagues, The DORIS station at Santiago (Chile) has been moved to a new location, in the premises of the CEE station located at Peldehue, about 30 km North of Santiago. In fact, a completely new station has been installed at this site, consisting of a version 2.0 beacon and a Starec antenna. The new station started transmitting on December 5 at 20.20 UT. The antenna has been installed on an existing concrete pad, above the NASA monument # 7400 which has been formerly occupied by the TLRS-2 mobile laser. The reference point of the DORIS antenna is 2.434 m above the mark. Therefore, the ITRF 94 coordinates at epoch 1993.0 for the antenna reference point are : X = 1 769 700.242 Y = - 5 044 614.866 Z = - 3 468 261.296 (sigma : 1 cm) Its DOMES number is 41705S008. The acronym in the data files for this new station is : SAOB. ******************************************************************************* I would like to express here my warmest thanks to Dr Fernando Noel (Universidad de Chile / Departamento de Astronomia) who has been taking very good care of the DORIS station at its former location (the Cerro Calan Astronomical Observatory) for almost seven years. ******************************************************************************* Herve Fagard ====================================================================== Herve FAGARD e-mail : herve.fagard@ign.fr Institut Geographique National B.P. 68 - 94160 SAINT-MANDE PHONE : + 33 1 43 98 81 48 FRANCE FAX : + 33 1 43 98 84 50 PLEASE NOTE MY NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS ! ====================================================================== [Mailed From: Pascal Willis ]
